    Building Surveyor

    Building surveyors advise on, interpret and enforce laws and regulations regarding building construction and safety.

    Cartographer

    Cartographers design, prepare and revise maps, charts, plans, three-dimensional models and spatial information databases, often using computer-based techniques, and applying principles from science, mathematics and graphic design. Cartographers apply these elements to represent, analyse and manage essential spatial information that service the mining, mineral exploration, mapping, marketing, web publishing, regional planning and environmental management industries. Spatial information refers to information about the geographical relationship between places, people and other items within a particular area. Cartographers may have to travel to collect information and are often required to liaise with clients, government officials and industry.

     

    Conservation Officer

    Building conservation officers help to protect and enhance historic buildings, including houses, churches, windmills, lighthouses and factories. They report and advise on buildings and areas of special historic or architectural interest for their preservation, conservation, care and curatorship. Their roles also include securing the improvement of historic and valued places for the benefit of communities today and in the future. They guide new developments in order to maintain the distinctive character of an area - up to a third of planning applications submitted involve conservation issues. They may also be involved in regeneration projects that have community, economic and environmental benefits.

    Transport Planner

    Transport Planners apply critical thinking and lead others to deliver timely, high quality and cost effective planning investigations and/or road design services to solve a range of complex transport issues.

    Urban and Regional Planner

    Also known as a town planner, urban and regional planners develop plans and policies for managing the use of the land and providing the physical facilities and services needed in rural and metropolitan communities and industrial areas
